Welcome to ‘The Cycling Brit’ blog – the document of record for some British bloke cycling his way around the continent of Europe. My name is Martin and I am that bloke, greetings!
I have been a keen cyclist since starting to commute to work in 2017, but am by no means a seasoned cycle tourer (my longest tour was one week, staying at B&Bs, hostels and hotels). Most of my camping has been done at music festivals, so I expect this blog will be scattered with various cock-ups, rookie mistakes, and lessons learned the hard way, as well as all the good stuff of course!
I’m interested to see what I can learn from this experience and the people I meet along the way, and maybe I can share some of that through this blog. I do enjoy my photography too, so there will be plenty of snaps along the way.
So when you see a new blog has been uploaded, go make yourself a brew, grab a biscuit or three, and join me, The Cycling Brit, as I embark on a European cycling odyssey.

Donations
A few people have asked me whether I am doing this as a sponsored event for charity – the trip is not formally affiliated with any charities and I am entirely self-funded.
However, if you have been inspired to donate to a charitable cause then I can recommend Parkinson’s UK, who do a lot of good work for people living with Parkinson’s disease as well as funding international research into treatment and hopefully one day a cure – you can donate using the link below:
